Spring 2011
Williams Defeats Union College, 15-0
4/23/11
OMG was it cold Saturday. The temperature was in the forties and wind was in the thirties blowing from the northeast. Fortunately the rain held off until after the games were completed. The temperature at the noon kick-off was 49 degrees. By the end of the ‘B’ game it was 43 degrees. The warmth of the day came from the play of the White Dogs. They played an excellent game. They were in control the entire game and didn’t allow St. Michael’s College to score until the 75th minute. Williams led 27-0 by that time. The game was not a rout and St. Mike’s never stopped playing hard but it was a strong win.

Williams Bests Castleton State, 45-0

Spring has not arrived in the Purple Valley. There is snow visible on Mt. Greylock. The Green Mountains that Bruce traverses to Williamstown still have several feet of snow in the woods and four foot high drifts along the roadside. The rugby pitch didn’t clear until last Thursday. The White Dogs were inside for practice on Tuesday and Wednesday and didn’t get to experience the feel of grass until Thursday. So two hours on the pitch was the story before the first game was to be played on Saturday against Castleton State College.
